Abstract
Most patients with hemorrhagic gastritis have underlying predisposing conditions, such as alcohol abuse, portal hypertension, non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug use, and stress associated with hospitalization in an intensive care unit. Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome is caused by infection of the group of viruses belonging to the genus Hantavirus of the family Bunyaviridae, and characterized by fever, hemorrhage, and renal insufficiency. In these patients. hemorrhagic gastropathy can occurs. We recently encountered a 64- year-old women with acute hemorrhagic gastropathy associated with hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome. She complaint epigastric pain, dyspepsia, nausea and poor oral intakes. Her laboratory findings revealed thrombocytopenia, but not coagulopathy and serious renal insufficiency. Gastroscopic findings in hypotensive phase showed severe acute hemorrhagic gastropathy. Her gastrointestinal symptoms and endoscopic findings improved 4 weeks after conservative management including total parenternal nutrtion.
